Viewer polarity kicks in on first night of Democratic convention

The D-FW Nielsen ratings for Night 1 of the Democratic National convention were starkly different in terms of cable news network choices. We have the complete breakdown on the Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.

Plus, it’s quite a sight to see Stephen Colbert’s “Death. Taxes. Hillary.” video, which kicked off Late Show’s live, post-convention coverage of the Dems. See it all on our Network News & Reviews page.

Also, our series of convention look-backs continues with a 1996 piece on a harried and dog-tired Eleanor Mondale, who was covering the Republican proceedings for cable’s E! network. She died all too soon in 2011 of brain cancer, but I can still her driving to a quick stop for a short interview. It’s on our Back Channels page, as is a 2004 on-site interview with a vexed Tom Brokaw at the outset of his last convention as NBC’s lead anchor before bequeathing the Nightly News to Brian Williams.
