Scott Pelley is nearing the end of his first three eventful months as anchor of the CBS Evening News. He met with a hotel ballroom full of TV writers earlier this month during the CBS portion of the Television Critics Association summer "press tour." Texas was very much a topic, as were his down-the-middle approach to delivering the news and what he learned in the early-to-late 1980s at Dallas-based WFAA8.
