You can't make this stuff up. Dallas native Melissa Rycroft's meteoric rise from relative nobody to world famous reality show star continued Monday when ABC named her a "special contributor" to Good Morning America.

Rycroft will be "bringing fun and uplifting stories from around the country," says an ABC publicity release. She's already on board after an appearance on Monday's GMA, which is produced by the network's news division.

The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and University of North Texas grad (fittingly with a degree in marketing) became famous last fall for being jilted on The Bachelor after its latest namesake, Jason Mesnick, first gave her the ABC show's final rose.

She then segued immediately to the network's Dancing with the Stars, where she was an 11th hour addition and ended up finishing third among 13 celebrity hoofers.

In the past several months, Rycroft, 26, also has been named one of the world's most beautiful people by People and made Maxim magazine's Hot 100 list.

She should be ready to anchor ABC's World News by this time next year.
