Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Tues., Oct. 9)

By ED BARK
ABC had another dominant night in prime-time, winning from start to finish in D-FW and propelling Belo8's 10 p.m. newscast to another pair of crunching wins.

Dancing with the Stars of course led the pack, reeling in 338,548 total homes with its latest Mark Cuban-infused results show. Fox's competing House ran a solid second opposite Dancing, with NBC's The Biggest Loser exactly that from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

ABC's new Cavemen and Carpoolers paced the 7 to 8 p.m. Nielsens in total homes and with advertiser-courted 18-to-49-year-olds. And the network's resilient Boston Legal cleaned up at 9 p.m., where the biggest loser was CBS' new Cane. The Jimmy Smits-led soaper ran a distant fourth in both ratings measurements.

Belo8's 10 p.m. news corralled Tuesday's second biggest audience in total homes (270,352) and also had an easy time of it among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming. CBS11, getting what will be its weakest lead-in of the week, finished a close third in total homes behind NBC5. Still, it could claim a moral victory at 10 p.m. over the increasingly plucked Peacock. Here's how:

NBC5
9:45 to 10 p.m. lead-in from Law & Order: SVU -- 238,689 homes
10 p.m. newscast -- 155,878 homes

CBS11
9:45 to 10 p.m. lead-in from Cane -- 116,909 homes
10 p.m. newscast -- 138,829 homes

Fox4 continued its strong run at 6 a.m. with wins in both measurements. And the station stretched its 7 to 9 a.m. winning streak to six days with Good Day's comfy wins over the three competing network morning shows.

Fox4 also had a better than usual go of it at 5 and 6 p.m. It had twin wins at the earlier hour and tied Belo8 for first at 6 p.m. with 25-to-54-year-olds. Belo8 won in total homes at 6 p.m.
