Audiences were on the smallish side, but still good enough to give Fox’s new Beat Shazam and Love Connection reboot wins among advertiser-coveted 18-to-49-year-olds Thursday night.

Hosted by Jamie Foxx, Beat Shazam was beaten only by CBS’ competing 7 p.m. rerun of The Big Bang Theory in total D-FW viewers but won its full 7 p.m. hour with 18-to-49-year-olds.

Love Connection, with Andy Cohen supplanting Chuck Woolery, was edged by NBC’s Running with Bear Grylls in total viewers but otherwise was tops with 18-to-49-year-olds from 8 to 9 p.m.

Fox4’s 9 p.m. local newscast then won in both ratings measurements, drawing more total viewers (145,422) than either Shazam or Love Connection.

On Wednesday’s closing night of the May ratings “sweeps,” Fox’s 8 p.m. episode of Empire topped all prime-time programming with 232,675 total viewers and 96,213 in the 18-to-49-year-old realm.

ABC’s 7 to 10 p.m. “re-imagining” of Dirty Dancing stepped in ratings goo with overall fourth place finishes for the full three hours in both total viewers (130,880) and 18-to-49-year-olds (32,071).

Here are the Wednesday-Thursday local news derby results:

Wednesday -- Fox4 rolled to 10 p.m. wins in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds (main advertiser target audience for news programming) on the closing night of the May “ratings” sweeps. (Full results are here.)

Fox4, NBC5 and TEGNA8 tied for first place in total viewers at 6 a.m., with the Peacock winning outright with 25-to-54-year-olds.

NBC5 swept the 6 p.m. competitions. At 5 p.m., the golds went to NBC5 in total viewers and Fox4 with 25-to-54-year-olds.

Thursday -- The post-sweeps battles began with TEGNA8 sweeping at 10 p.m. and NBC5 doing likewise at 6 p.m.

Fox4 had the most total viewers at 6 a.m. and shared the top spot with NBC5 among 25-to-54-year-olds.

The Peacock ran first at 5 p.m. in total viewers but Fox4 had the edge among 25-to-54-year-olds.
