American Idol-less for the first time in three nights, Fox nonetheless prospered in D-FW Thursday night with a new Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? featuring Miss America 2007.
It dominated the 7 to 8 p.m. slot in both total D-FW homes (224,075) and among advertiser-courted 18-to-49-year-olds (135,596 of 'em).
CBS11 then took over from 8 to 10 p.m. with a repeat of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (270,052 homes) and a new Without A Trace (277,658 homes). Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics!, also new, ran a solid second at 8 p.m.
NBC's Celebrity Apprentice barely registered with 70,632 homes at 8 p.m., and a new episode of the network's ER (131,522 homes) managed just a third-place finish opposite Trace and Fox4's 9 p.m. local newscast (197,284 homes).
ABC bottomed out at 9 p.m. with Big Shots (104,731 homes). But Belo8's 10 p.m. newscast again recovered to win in total homes (192,412) in a close race with CBS11 (185,106 homes). NBC5 took the top spot among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.
At 6 a.m., Fox4 and Belo8 tied for first in total homes, with Fox4 winning narrowly in the 25-to-54 demo. The 7 to 9 a.m. portion of Fox4's Good Day beat the three network morning shows among 25-to-54-year-olds, but lost to ABC's Good Morning America in total homes.
Belo8 again dominated the 5 and 6 p.m. news wars with twin wins at both hours.
