Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Wed., Dec. 7) -- Fox runs prime-time table with 18-to-49-year-olds

By ED BARK
Wednesday brought an early Christmas for Fox and Fox4, which swept the prime-time D-FW Nielsens in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic.

That included an 8 to 8:30 p.m. win by the last half-hour of The X Factor, which outdrew ABC's strongest performer, a Christmas episode of Modern Family.

Fox's lineup of a 90-minute X Factor and the new sitcom I Hate My Teenage Daughter, also had the most total viewers from 7 to 9 p.m. Fox4's 9 p.m. local newscast, which won with 18-to-49-year-olds, slipped to third in total viewers behind new episodes of CBS' CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and ABC's Revenge.

X Factor was Wednesday's overall champ in total viewers, with 345,479. It also had the most 18-to-49-year-olds -- 176,127.

In local news derby results, WFAA8 and CBS11 tied for the top spot at 10 p.m. in total viewers while NBC5 won among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.

Fox4 again swept the 6 a.m. Nielsens, but NBC5 ended the station's three-weekday winning streak at 5 and 6 p.m. with first place finishes in the 25-to-54 demographic.

The total viewer victories at 5 and 6 p.m. went to CBS11.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: The Friday, Dec. 9th edition of Extra will originate from the Omni Hotel in Dallas, with host Mario Lopez interviewing Dallas Mavericks and HDNet owner Mark Cuban among other yet to be announced guests.

The show airs at 6:30 p.m. Friday locally on NBC5. Taping at the Omni -- at an undisclosed time -- is not open to the public, the station says. But you can probably gawk a little if you arrive early and hang out.
