Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Fri.-Sun., July 10-12) -- Rangers fall out of first but still mostly No.1 in local ratings

By ED BARK
The Seattle Mariners took two of three from the Rangers over the weekend, but the North Texas Nine still rolled in the D-FW ratings opposite mostly reruns and local newscasts.

Friday's late nighter, which the Rangers won, averaged 119,574 viewers on Fox Sports Southwest. That was good enough to outdraw all competing programming, including a quartet of 10 p.m. local newscasts. In the 10 to 10:30 p.m. slot, the Rangers had 152,789 viewers in outscoring WFAA8's runnerup 139,503 viewers.

On Saturday, Rangers-Mariners also averaged 119,574 viewers on FSS, whipping everything in its path except a 9 p.m. rerun of NBC's Law & Order: SVU and WFAA8's late night newscast.

Sunday afternoon's loss to the Mariners, again on FSS, averaged 93,002 viewers in easily outscoring all competing programming.

Otherwise the Friday local news derby numbers went like this:

WFAA8 had the 10 p.m. gold in total viewers, but shared with first-place spoils with NBC5 among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.

The Peacock again crowed at 6 a.m. with a pair of wins while also topping the 5 p.m. Nielsens in total viewers and the 6 p.m. competitions among 25-to-54-year-olds.

WFAA8 ran first at 6 p.m. in total viewers while Fox4 rolled to a 5 p.m. win in the 25-to-54 demographic.
