Deborah Ferguson, who co-anchors Fort Worth-based NBC5's early morning newscasts and has been at the station since 1991, is among the local category winners of a Gracie Award.

She's being honored as "Outstanding Anchor -- News or News Magazine" in the Top 25 TV market division.

Dallas-based KERA13 also is getting a Gracie for Boyfriends, cited as "Outstanding Reality Show."

"I wanted to be a reporter ever since I was a little girl, but I never imagined getting an award as big as this," Ferguson says. "As prestigious as a Grace is, I'm even more honored by letters from the community that supported my nomination."

The Gracies are presented by the American Women in Radio and Television with an eye toward "advancing the impact of women in the media."

Ferguson will get her award at the 35th annual Gracie Gala, on May 25th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

It looks as though it could be a very long ceremony. There are 53 winners named in the "Local, Public and Student Award" categories, as well as an additional 52 national winners. They're all listed on The Gracies' official website.
