Initial plans for a February conversion to HD have been delayed, but The 33 continues to push ahead with more news in the early evening.
David Duitch, news director for the CW station, says a 5 p.m. local newscast will be added on March 14th, joining a 5:30 p.m. edition that launched on Sept. 21st.
The 33 currently carries the syndicated version of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? at 5 p.m.
In the November "sweeps" ratings period, the 5:30 p.m. news on The 33 averaged 20,359 D-FW viewers. The market's other 5:30 p.m. local newscast, on Fox4, drew 88,222 viewers.
The 33 also has a longstanding one-hour 9 p.m. local newscast. There are no current plans to hire any additional on-camera personnel.
