Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Mon., May 17) -- ABC, CBS, Fox split spoils

By ED BARK
ABC's Dancing with the Stars, flexing with its second-to-last performance show, again drew Monday's largest overall audience. But it was a little weak downstairs in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic.

A grand total of 407,178 D-FW viewers watched Dancing from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with Fox's season finale of House
(251,093 viewers) placing second from 7 to 8 p.m. while CBS' Two and a Half Men took the 8 to 8:30 p.m. silver with 285,025 viewers.

ABC's Romantically Challenged, officially axed Tuesday, then plunged to 135,726 viewers at 8:30 p.m. while CBS' The Big Bang Theory (359,674 viewers) rocketed into first.

The 9 p.m. hour was won by CBS' CSI: Miami with 271,452 viewers, with ABC's Castle (217,162) taking second.

Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory and CSI: Miami all ran first among advertiser-craved 18-to-49-year-olds, with Fox's bloody penultimate episode of 24 placing second in the 8 p.m. hour. From 7 to 8 p.m., House and Dancing tied for the top spot in the 18-to-49 measurement.

In local news derby results, WFAA8 had a big day at 10 p.m., winning comfortably in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming. Arch rival CBS11 ran second in total viewers but fell to fourth among 25-to-54-year-olds.

NBC5 ran the table at 6 a.m. in its pitched May "sweeps" battle with Fox4 for supremacy in both ratings measurements.

WFAA8 took the total viewer golds at both 5 and 6 p.m. and also ran first with 25-to-54-year-olds at the earlier hour. Fox4 dominated at 6 p.m. among 25-to-54-year-olds.
