Sunday's marquee Kentucky-North Carolina game, with the Bluegrass basketeers advancing to the Final Four, drew the most D-FW viewers of any NCAA tournament game on CBS, TNT, TBS or truTV.
Spilling into the 6 p.m. 60 Minutes start time, Kentucky-NC averaged 332,434 viewers after the preceding VCU upset of No. 1 seed Kansas drew 214,697 viewers on CBS.
Saturday's pair of Final Four qualifier games had fewer viewers on CBS. Butler's comeback win over Florida drew 145,440 before Connecticut's close-out of Arizona improved a bit to 180,068. Still, both games won their time slots.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks drew smallish crowds over the weekend despite two gritty road wins against tough opponents fighting for playoff spots. The Mavs' late night Sunday night win at Phoenix drew 83,108 viewers on TXA21 and added an identical number for the ESPN telecast. Saturday's victory at Utah had 152,365 viewers on Fox Sports Southwest.
Friday's prime-time numbers were led by Kentucky's upset win over top seed Ohio State, which drew 200,845 viewers on CBS.
In Friday's local news derby returns, WFAA8 ran first in total viewers in a downsized 10 p.m. competition while NBC5 had the gold among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming on most stations.
Fox4 otherwise had a bounteous Friday, running the table at 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. while also topping the 6 p.m. field in 25-to-54-year-olds. Fox4 and WFAA8 tied for first place at 6 p.m. in total viewers. CBS11's 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts again gave way to NCAA basketball coverage.
