Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Fri.-Sun., July 23-25) -- Rangers pay dividends on TXA21's weekly game

By ED BARK
TXA21's Friday night Texas Rangers package is looking golden for the rest of the summer.

The 1-0 win over the Angels dominated all D-FW prime-time programming, averaging 217,162 total viewers while peaking at 312,170 in the final 15 minutes (9:15 to 9:30 p.m.).

Fox Sports Southwest, which carries the bulk of Rangers games, also reaped big ratings, averaging roughly 227,060 viewers on both Saturday and Sunday nights.

Ratings were ridiculously low for NBC's Saturday night crime lineup of Missing Persons and two hours of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. MP barely registered with 20,359 viewers in the 7 p.m. hour before Law & Order: CI managed 27,145 and then 54,290 viewers.

In Friday's local news derby results, everyone came up a winner except once dominant WFAA8.

NBC5 swept the 10 p.m. competitions in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming on most stations.

The Peacock also won at 6 a.m. among 25-to-54-year-olds while tying for first in total viewers with Fox4.

CBS11 ran the table at 6 p.m. and Fox4 did likewise at 5 p.m.

WFAA8 ran fourth with 25-54-year-olds at 5,6 and 10 p.m. but managed a second place tie with Fox4 in the 6 a.m. Nielsens for that age range.
