Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Mon., July 27) -- ABC/CBS split prime-time spoils

By ED BARK
Ed Swiderski got the ring from Jillian Harris -- and Kiptyn Locke got the finger -- on ABC's two-hour finale of The Bachelorette Monday night.

The 7 to 9 p.m. climax led all prime-time attractions in total viewers, averaging 205,933 in D-FW. Bachelorette couldn't click its heels among advertiser-courted 18-to-49-year-olds, though, running second to CBS' sitcom repeat quartet of How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory.

CBS then topped the total viewers Nielsens at 9 p.m. with its CSI: Miami repeat. But 18-to-49-year-olds greatly preferred ABC's second episode of Dating in the Dark, which thumped both CSI: Miami and Fox4's 9 p.m. newscast by a full rating point (32,412 viewers).

NBC again tanked in both ratings measurements with a 7 to 9 p.m. lineup of Great American Road Trip and The Wanted, both of which drew just 59,787 total viewers. Dateline NBC then perked up to a respectable 146,146 total viewers, providing NBC5's 10 p.m. local newscast with just enough lead-in oomph to nip CBS11 in the nightly four-way faceoff.

WFAA8 won at 10 p.m. among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming. CBS11 slid to a distant third in that demographic.

NBC5 again ran the table at 6 a.m., with WFAA8 second in total viewers but fourth with 25-to-54-year-olds, where Fox4 and CBS11 respectively took the silver and bronze.

WFAA8 was tops in total viewers at 6 p.m. while finishing in a three-way tie among 25-to-54-year-olds with Fox4 and NBC5.

NBC5 took the 5 p.m. gold in total viewers; Fox4 and WFAA8 shared the spoils in the 25-to-54 demographic.
