Clanking at home, the Dallas Mavericks' surprisingly lopsided loss to Washington in Tuesday's season opener also stumbled in the D-FW Nielsen ratings.
The 102-91 loss, with only Dirk Nowitzki having a big game, averaged just 119,574 total viewers on Fox Sports Southwest. That ranked it fourth overall in prime-time, although the Mavs did manage to outdraw Fox's So You Think You Can Dance and Fox4's 9 p.m. local newscast, which each had 86,359 viewers.
CBS otherwise fared best overall with a trio of crime series reruns. NCIS and The Good Wife respectively won the 7 and 9 p.m. hours in total viewers while NCIS: Los Angeles ran second at 8 p.m. to ABC's Dancing with the Stars results show. Former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin amazingly evaded eviction again, prevailing in a closing "death dance" that had judges bouncing snowboarder Louie Vito via a split decision.
Among advertiser-favored 18-to-49-year-olds, NCIS and ABC's It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown tied for first at 7 p.m. NBC's second hour of The Biggest Loser controlled the 8 p.m. hour before Good Wife edged the closing hour of Mavs-Wizards.
In local news derby festivities, WFAA8 won at 10 p.m. in total viewers but NBC5 ran first with 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.
The Peacock also prevailed at 6 a.m. in total viewers while tying Fox4 for the top spot among 25-to-54-year-olds.
WFAA8 won at 5 and 6 p.m. in total viewers. The golds in the 25-to-54 demographic respectively were split by Fox4 and NBC5.
