The Texas Rangers' sweep of the Angels Sunday afternoon wasn't a ratings home run in D-FW.
Still, on a beautiful day, 126,217 D-FW viewers checked out the action on Fox Sports Southwest. That put the Rangers second among all daytime programming, behind only ABC's Game 7 of the Lakers-Rockets, which averaged 192,647 viewers.
In Sunday's prime-time returns, ABC's two-hour season finale of Desperate Housewives topped all comers with 252,434 viewers while CBS' denouement of Survivor: Tocantins had 179,361 viewers before the 9 pm. reunion show inched up a bit to 186,004 viewers.
WFAA8's 10 p.m. newscast was Sunday's biggest draw, though, with 279,006 viewers.
Saturday's running of a thrilling Preakness drew 232,505 viewers for the actual race, minus all the preliminaries and post-mortems on NBC.
On Friday night, The Peacock's two-hour Farrah's Story, which documented actress Farrah Fawcett's battle with cancer, averaged 192,647 viewers. It won the first hour, but lost the second to CBS' season-ending Numb3rs (219,219 viewers). Farrah won outright from 8 to 10 p.m. among advertiser-favored 18-to-49-year-olds.
Fox's series finale of Prison Break, whose middle two seasons were shot in North Texas, limped in with just 66,430 total viewers to run fourth from 7 to 9 p.m. It also placed out of the money with 18-to-49-year-olds.
In Friday's local news derby results, WFAA8 took the 10 p.m. gold in total viewers while NBC5 had a rare win among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.
The Peacock again swept the 6 a.m. Nielsens, where it's sewed up the May sweeps with just three weekdays remaining.
WFAA8 ran the table at 6 p.m. and also placed first at 5 p.m. in total viewers. Fox4 had the 5 p.m. win among 25-to-54-year-olds.
