Fox's New Girl remained a demographic darling with its second episode.
Nestled between Glee and Raising Hope, the Zooey Deschanel sitcom had more advertiser-coveted 18-to-49-year-old viewers than any other show day or night Tuesday. Specifically, 150,508 D-FW viewers of that age range tuned in, with Glee drawing 137,699 before Hope fell to 99,271.
That makes New Girl a bigger hit so far than Fox's two other much more heavily promoted and expensive freshmen, The X Factor and Terra Nova.
CBS is still Tuesday's big tuna in total viewers, though. All three of its crime dramas won their time slot in that measurement. NCIS led off with 480,961 viewers at 7 p.m., easily making it the No. 1 overall draw. NCIS: Los Angeles followed with 386,124 before the new Unforgettable had 264,190 viewers for its second episode.
Dancing's 8 p.m. results show ran second in total viewers during that hour but fourth with 18-to-49-year-olds. ABC is starting to get that sinking feeling, as did alleged star Elisabetta Canalis, the latest evictee. Even the second hour of NBC's The Biggest Loser edged Dancing in the 18-to-49 demographic before the network's Parenthood fell to fourth place in both ratings measurements.
In local news derby results, CBS11 won at 10 p.m. in total viewers while Fox4 took first place with 25-to-54-year-olds, the prime advertiser target audience for news programming.
Fox4 and NBC5 shared the top spot in total viewers at 6 a.m. before Fox4 as usual dominated among 25-to-54-year-olds.
CBS11 had a 6 p.m. win in total viewers but Fox4 and WFAA8 shared the 25-to-54 gold. Fox4 ran the table at 5 p.m.
