The premiere of ABC's answer to CBS' Undercover Boss drew more viewers Sunday night than the show it's basically copy-catting.
Secret Millionaire pulled in a nice-sized 277,028 D-FW viewers in the 7 p.m. hour to win that slot against CBS' The Amazing Race (207,771) and NBC's first episode of America's Next Great Restaurant (117,737). Amazing Race beat Secret Millionaire by a slight margin among advertiser-craved 18-to-49-year-olds, though, while Next Great Restaurant fell to fourth behind Fox's cartoon combo of The Simpsons and Bob's Burgers.
At 8 p.m. Sunday, Undercover Boss lost across the board to ABC's Desperate Housewives, with smaller returns than Secret Millionaire in both total viewers and 18-to-49-year-olds.
NBC's two-hour season premiere of The Celebrity Apprentice drew 159,291 total viewers to run third behind ABC and CBS from 8 to 10 p.m. while also losing at 8 p.m. to Fox's Family Guy. Donald Trump's firing squad improved to second place among 18-to-49-year-olds from 9 to 10 p.m., beating CBS' CSI: Miami and barely losing to ABC's Brothers & Sisters. For the record, Trump dumped former teen idol David Cassidy.
In Friday's local news derby results, NBC5 made a big showing at 10 p.m. with wins in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming on most stations. Otherwise it was Fox4's day to shine. The station ran the table at 6 a.m. and at 5 and 6 p.m.
