ABC controlled the last two hours of prime-time Thursday with a "crossover" combo that merged Grey's Anatomy with its spinoff, Private Practice.
Grey's still had a tough time in the 8 p.m. hour, though, drawing 345,436 D-FW viewers to nip a rerun of CBS' competing CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (338,793). The margin was a bit more comfortable among advertiser-coveted 18-to-49-year-olds.
Private Practice upped ABC's audience to 358,722 viewers at 9 p.m., with CBS' runnerup Eleventh Hour reprise drooping to 239,148 viewers.
Fox's Bones started the night with a 7 p.m. win in total viewers (259,077). But it surprisingly fell to third at that hour among 18-to-49-year-olds behind CBS' repeats of The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, and ABC's Ugly Betty.
In the daily local news derby, WFAA8's 10 p.m. edition took advantage of a rare lead-in advantage from ABC to draw Thursday's biggest overall audience (378,651 viewers).
WFAA8 also won easily among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming. Its haul in that age range (194,259 viewers) more than doubled that of runnerup CBS11 (78,918).
NBC5, once dominant at 10 p.m. but now usually a doormat, again got scant help from the Peacock's prime-time lead-in. A new episode of the once potent ER drew just 139,503 total viewers in the 9 p.m. hour to finish fourth.
In other local news results, NBC5 and Fox4 tied at 6 a.m. in total viewers, with the Peacock taking the gold among 25-to-54-year-olds.
WFAA8 as usual swept the 6 p.m. ratings, but again fell short at 5 p.m. , where Fox4 and NBC5 tied for first in both ratings measurements.
