Mid-point of May "sweeps" shows more down-to-the-wire D-FW news battles, with NBC5 the surprise topper at 10 p.m. with 25-to-54-year-olds

It's the halfway point of the May "sweeps" ratings period, with all four major local TV news providers in position to win at least one gold.
NBC5 has made the biggest news through the first 10 weekdays. Flush with lead-in help from its network's sudden new hit, The Voice, the Peacock is making a major push to win at 10 p.m. in a key demographic measurement while the total viewer races remain up for grabs in three of D-FW's four major combat zones.
Fox4 is the market's other demographic darling, with fairly sizable leads among 25-to-54-year-old viewers at 6 a.m. and at 5 and 6 p.m. This age group is the main advertiser target audience for news programming, although wins in total viewers are kinda nice, too.
It's a somewhat strange sweeps, with competing Dallas Mavericks playoff games deflating the 10 p.m. news audiences on some nights. And that will continue in the coming week, when the Mavs face off in the Western Conference finals against either the Oklahoma City Thunder or Memphis Grizzlies.
Here are the 10-day Nielsen scorecards for the May sweeps, which ends on Wednesday, May 25th.
