Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Thurs., Feb. 18) -- Olympics blade runners propel NBC

NBC's seventh night of Olympics coverage, highlighted by the men's figure skating final, cruised to gold in prime-time and late night Thursday.
Starting at 7 p.m. and stretching to nearly 11:30 p.m., the Olympics averaged 570,049 D-FW viewers in dominating the field. A new episode of ABC's Grey's Anatomy fared best against the Winter Games, drawing 291,811 viewers. CBS' second episode of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains took the silver at 7 p.m. with 217,162 viewers.
In local news derby results, WFAA8 topped a downsized field at 10 p.m. in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming. But NBC5's late nighter, which didn't start until 11:26 p.m., still drew more viewers (278,239 to WFAA8's 223,948). NBC5 likewise had a bigger haul than its rivals in the 25-to-54 demographic.
Fox4 and the Peacock tied for first at 6 a.m. in total viewers. But Fox4 prevailed among 25-to-54-year-olds, with NBC5 slipping to a close third behind WFAA8.
NBC5 swept the 6 p.m. competitions while WFAA8 had both golds at 5 p.m.
