Denny Crane and Alan Shore will clink glasses a last time on a two-hour Boston Legal set for Dec. 8th.
ABC says the show is signing off after five seasons with back-to-back episodes titled "Made in China" and "Last Call."
Series creator David E. Kelly has written both hours, with the fractious law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt "in dire financial straits" as the curtain closes.
Also, Shore petitions the Supreme Court to let Crane use a non-FDA approved drug that may slow the progression of his Alzheimer's Disease while Carl Sack and Shirley Schmidt (John Larroquette, Candice Bergen) plan their wedding.
William Shatner won back-to-back Emmys in 2004-'05 as Crane; James Spader has one-upped him with three Emmys as Shore. WFAA8 sports anchor Dale Hansen and weatherman Pete Delkus lately have been replicating the two characters in a series of promotional spots.
Boston Legal's Monday 9 p.m. (central) slot will be filled on Dec. 15th by the two-hour Drama High: The Making of a High School Musical. After that it's movies for the rest of December.
