First promo for Katie, coming soon to WFAA8

One of TV's most fa-s-s-s-s-s-scinating open questions this fall is whether Katie Couric's new talk show, Katie, will bloom or bomb nationally and in D-FW.

WFAA8 will be the carrier when Katie premieres on Sept. 10th. The ABC affiliate has slotted the show at 4 p.m. weekdays, where Oprah Winfrey ruled for a quarter-century before Dr. Oz performed weakly this past season.

The official first promo for Katie came this way Friday. Her trademark wide grin is front and center, with Couric also happily mixing with regular folks in some sort of far-fetched fantasy world. The overall sing-along slogan is "Brighter Than the Sun."

Couric didn't translate as anchor of the CBS Evening News, which spent five years in third place under her reign. This new show intends to play up her Today show strengths, which which basically boil down to being bubbly, giggly and inquisitive.
