CBS11 has named Scott Padgett of Miami’s WPLG-TV as its new weekday morning meteorologist.

He’ll join incumbents Brendan Higgins, Adrienne Bankert and Whitney Drolen on Sept. 16th, the station announced Monday.

Padget replaces Garry Seith, who left CBS11 earlier this month for undisclosed reasons and has not returned a message asking for comment or clarification.

Padgett’s parents, sister and her family live in North Texas.

“It feels like I’m coming home,” he said in a publicity release. “I’m so excited that I’ll get to watch my nephews’ ball games and spend holidays with my folks.”

Padgett, a New Jersey native who has a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Western Illinois University, has been with WPLG since April 2008. He also has worked at TV stations in Oklahoma City, Baltimore, Lexington, KY and Dubuque, Iowa.

Here’s a link to WPLG’s “Get to Know Scott Padgett . . .” video, in which he personably answers various questions and reveals, “I was terrified of the weather when I was younger.” He also lost the tip off an index finger while watching his mom bake chocolate chip cookies.
