Alex Boyer, from Austin’s KEYE-TV, is heading north to join Dallas-based Fox4 as a general assignment reporter.
News director Robin Whitmeyer expects him to initiate a lot of stories on his own.
“Alex enterprised his own beat in Austin, uncovering stories that no other journalist had,” she said in a statement Thursday. “I know he will be a strong enterpriser.”
Boyer, who’s scheduled to start at Fox4 on Jan. 4th, joined CBS affiliate KEYE on Christmas Eve, 2012 as a reporter and fill-in anchor. The University of Florida graduate also has a “certificate in media law” from Yale University. He earlier worked for TV stations in Miami, FL, Fort Meyers, FL, Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA.
“Dallas-Fort Worth is a destination news market and Fox4 is a force to be reckoned with,” Boyer says. “I’m humbled to be joining such a talented newsroom and eager to tackle the stories that matter to Texans.”
KEYE’s website also says that Boyer, who is bilingual, was “named one of Miami’s best-dressed reporters by the Miami Herald.” So there’s that, too.
