Question: Who sings that song on the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas commercials? I think the hook is "Blue Skies Everywhere." Every time I hear it I go to Google for information on the artist, but have not been successful. Can you help?
Mike Mahurin
Answer: Of course Uncle Barky can help. The artist is Rob Pierce, and here's his website, where you can hear an acoustic guitar portion of "Blue Skies" and get lots of other information on him by clicking around.
Question: I have been watching CBS11 news for awhile now. I have only seen Melissa Newton a couple of times, but not in awhile. Has she already left?
Hal Hughes
Answer: Newton is still a freelance reporter at CBS11, and had a story on the station's Tuesday, Nov. 3rd late night newscast.
Question: Why in the world would CBS run repeats of NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles last week when the new TV season is hardly underway? Any ideas? Last night's (Nov. 3rd) episodes were both new, but last Tuesday's were repeats.
Jay Davis
Answer: We live in a TV world where only 22-24 new episodes of a series are made for each season. A dozen of them usually get saved for the three major four-week ratings "sweeps" periods of November, February and May. That leaves only 10-12 to be parceled out over the rest of the TV season. The November "sweeps" began on Thursday, Oct. 29th. So in the previous week, CBS aired repeats of most of its drama and comedy series. It's necessary to drop in reruns now and then to ensure not running out of episodes too soon.
Following the November "sweeps," which end on the day before Thanksgiving, look for a virtual festival of repeats during the December holiday period. Merry Christmas.
