Without naming names (of course), WFAA8 takes aim at a rival station (Fox4)

It's infantile but all too true. You can count on D-FW's television news organizations to ignore each other when it comes to crediting scoops or questioning same. In the latest instance, Fox4's exclusive footage of a Dallas firefighter's arrest Thursday had WFAA8 questioning whether it had been "staged for a local TV station."

For a detailed look at this latest no name game, go to our Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.

Plus, another D-FW freelancer hops to a rival station while a full-timer is on personal leave. And Thursday's D-FW Nielsen ratings show the ups and downs of ABC's premiere of Ashley Judd's Missing.

Fashion Star hopes to thread the needle, take your money

NBC hopes that its new Fashion Star can chart new vistas in both product placement and virtually instant sales of same. Jessica Simpson is among the show's mentors, and two Texans are in the field of 14 apprentice designers. Our review is here.

Plus, Dallas-based WFAA8 is going a little cuckoo over Oklahoma City's KOCO-TV lately. And Thursday's D-FW Nielsens also are highlighted.

HBO's Game Change -- political lightning rod (but very entertaining, too)

In all fairness, HBO really should do a Game Change sequel on the book's depiction of the Barack Obama/Hillary Clinton bare-knuckled brawl. But for now we have the story of John McCain and Sarah Palin, which isn't nearly as unfair to the two of them as she'd have you believe. Our review is here.

Plus, Ty Treadway already is out as co-host of WFAA8's Good Morning Texas.

Don't you go there. Oh yes we will. Let's talk Manning/Cowboys

A physically fit Peyton Manning entertaining the masses as Cowboy Stadium's resident quarterback? My implanted sports gene says that's an idea worth at least throwing around. So let's look at some pros/cons on the Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.

You also can watch Daybreak co-anchor Ron "Corning In the Morning" eat an Oreo cookie without his hands after first positioning it on his forehead. Further proof that it's his world -- and we only live in it.

NBC5 ramps it up with raft of new hires for D-FW news team

No one's hiring these days -- particularly in TV news. Right? Wrong, when it comes to Fort Worth-based NBC5. They've got more new faces lately -- and all full-timers -- than a baseball spring training camp. And they're all additions to the staff, not just vacancy-fillers. Our story is on the Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.

Monday's D-FW Nielsen rating highlights also are ready for your inspection.

GCB a ratings champ here, but not so much elsewhere

ABC's Dallas-set GCB enjoyed a halo effect in the D-FW Nielsen ratings. But its national numbers were not as heaven-sent. Get the details on our Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.

ABC's GCB does Dallas as you'd expect

"The soap returns to Dallas in this deliciously fun, wicked new drama." Easy for ABC to say. Our review of GCB (Good Christian Bitches) is tempered by Annie Potts in scrumptious form as a moneyed "Hillside Park" queen bee. Take a look on the Network News & Reviews page.

D-FW's local news ratings sweeps ends with a couple of clear-cut winners and multiple photo finishes

The February ratings "sweeps" results are in the books, and boy is my hand calculator tired.

A number of very close contests had to be decided by going to an extra decimal point. It's the equivalent of determining a baseball batting champ when the rounded off averages turn out to be equal.

As another month moves into the unclebarky.com archives, you'll find D-FW's complete Feb. sweeps results on our March Dallas-Fort Worth TV page. Wednesday's local ratings also are highlighted in a separate post.

This affords your friendly content provider a chance to issue another even friendlier reminder to click first on one of unclebarky.com's Amazon ads before making the purchase(s) you were going to make anyway. It doesn't cost you anything extra, and a small percentage of the proceeds then go to this website's little treasury. And we greatly appreciate those who take the time to click here first.
