Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Tues., May 22) -- NCIS & Rockets-Warriors for the wins

The latest season finale of CBS’ NCIS and TNT’s thriller between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors paced Tuesday’s prime-time festivities.

NCIS led off the night with 306,250 total D-FW viewers in whipping the season-ender of ABC’s Roseanne (249,274) and the first half-hour of that network’s The Middle (163,808), which had its series finale.

But the NBA again steamrollered everything among advertiser-prized 18-to-49-year-olds. Houston’s upset comeback win at Golden State in a game that went down to the final half-second pulled in 112,342 viewers in the 18-to-49 range, again a fat percentage of the overall audience of 192,297 viewers.

NBC’s season finale of The Voice performed solidly in total viewers, drawing 206,541 from 8 to 10 p.m. But just 62,412 of them were in the 18-to-49 realm.

Here are Tuesday’s local news derby results for the second-to-last weekday of the May “sweeps,” which end on Wednesday.

NBC5, capitalizing on the strong lead-in from The Voice, took the 10 p.m. firsts in both total viewers and with 25-to-54-year-olds (main advertiser target audience for news programming).

Fox4 rung up two more wins at 6 a.m. and also had the most 25-to-54-year-olds at 5 and 6 p.m.

TEGNA8 popped in with a 6 p.m. win in total viewers while all four stations basically tied for first at 5 p.m. in total viewers. Extend it to an extra decimal point, though, and Fox4 beats the Peacock by a sliver, with TEGNA8 and CBS11 another sliver behind.
