Reporter/anchor Monica Hernandez is leaving Dallas-based TEGNA8 after a four-year stay, the staff was informed Friday.

She joined the ABC affiliate in October 2014 from WWL-TV in New Orleans after also spending four years at that station.

Hernandez could not immediately be reached for comment, but sources say she has accepted an anchoring position at a TV station in the Northeast. She’ll remain at TEGNA8 for part of this month.

(Hernandez tweeted on Saturday, Nov. 3rd that she’ll be joining Manchester, New Hampshire’s ABC affiliate WMUR-TV, although that tweet has since been deleted. WMUR, which draws national attention every four years for its first-in-the-nation presidential primary coverage, is New Hampshire’s only TV station with a local news operation. Boston stations otherwise provide rival network and local news programming to the state.)

Hernandez, a San Diego native, graduated from Syracuse University in 2007 with a major in broadcast journalism and international relations, and a minor in Spanish.

At TEGNA8, Hernandez primarily reported from the field while also filling in as an anchor.
