In reality there wasn’t much else to watch but reruns or second-rate bowl games.
Still, it’s nice to see CBS’ longtime investment in the Kennedy Center Honors pay some ratings dividends. The 39th annual ceremony won its 8 to 10 p.m. slot in D-FW Tuesday with 189,049 viewers. It also won the 8 to 9 p.m. hour among advertiser-prized 18-to-49-year-olds before tailing off to a third place finish from 9 to 10 p.m. behind ABC’s 20/20 and Fox4’s local newscast.
The night’s top scorer in total viewers, CBS’ repeat of NCIS, drew 232,675 in the 7 p.m. hour. But it ran an overall fourth with 18-to-49-year-olds, beating only Fox’s 7:30 p.m. rerun of New Girl.
Here are Tuesday’s local news derby results.
TEGNA8 ran first at 10 p.m. in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds (main advertiser target audience for news programming).
Fox4 and TEGNA8 tied for the most total viewers at 6 a.m. while Fox4 had first place to itself among 25-to-54-year-olds.
NBC5 won with 25-to-54-year-olds at both 5 and 6 p.m. The total viewer golds went to Fox4 at 5 p.m. and TEGNA8 at 6 p.m.
