Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Thurs., May 16) -- Big Bang boom times for series finale

CBS closed out The Big Bang Theory with a one-hour finale Thursday, and as expected it dominated D-FW’s prime-time Nielsens.
But the numbers may have exceeded expectations, with Big Bang becoming the first broadcast network series episode in quite some time to exceed half a million viewers in these parts. It officially clocked in at 506,110, with spinoff Young Sheldon (316,319 viewers) and an 8:30 p.m. Big Bang behind-the-scenes special (238,896) also easily winning their time slots.
CBS’ 9 p.m. episode of S.W.A.T. then tied Fox4’s local newscast for the lead in that hour with 147,615 viewers apiece.
Among advertiser-coveted 18-to-49-year-olds, Big Bang likewise set the prime-time pace with 102,653. Young Sheldon and the BB special also won their slots but S.W.A.T. lost the 9 p.m. hour to Fox4’s news.
Here are the local news derby results for the 16th weekday of the May “sweeps” ratings period, which ends next Wednesday.
CBS11 won at 10 p.m. in total viewers while Fox4 ran first with 25-to-54-year-olds (main advertiser target audience for news programming).
Fox4 swept both the 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. competitions, and CBS11 did likewise at 6 p.m.
