WFAA8 reporter Craig Civale, who joined the Dallas-based station in January 2007, is leaving to take a position in "the corporate world," his colleague, Jonathan Betz, tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

"Congrats to him -- a great reporter," said Betz, although he's "bummed" to see Civale go.

A WFAA8 spokesman had no immediate comment or confirmation and did not get back to unclebarky.com. But Civale said "You are correct, sir" in an email reply Tuesday.

Civale promised to provide more details later after meeting a deadline for a WFAA8 news story.

He later made good on his word, saying he had accepted a corporate position with the Baylor Health Care System in Dallas.

"I will be working with the team over there on their marketing strategies and continuing to build the brand," Civale said. "It's a hard decision. This is all I've ever done. But it was time to focus more on my family and this opportunity allows me to do just that."

Before becoming a general assignment reporter at WFAA8, Civale worked at WVEC-TV in Norfolk, VA, where he won two Associated Press awards for investigative reporting.

"I miss being on an Investigative Team but general assignment reporting allows you to tell really good people stories," he says in his wfaa.com bio.
