NBC’s The Voice again took the measure of ABC’s American Idol reboot Monday night in another 7 to 9 p.m. face-off between TV’s two most potent sing-offs.
The Voice drew 270,640 D-FW viewers compared to 149,564 for Idol, which also lost its first half-hour to CBS’ competing Kevin Can Wait (192,297 viewers).
Among advertiser-coveted 18-to-49-year-olds, The Voice bested Idol by a less imposing margin of 84,256 viewers to 59,291. Idol outpointed Kevin Can Wait and CBS’ other three sitcoms in this key demographic.
In the 9 p.m. hour, Fox4’s local newscast won in total viewers with 185,175 while NBC’s Good Girls was tops with 18-to-49ers (56,171 viewers). ABC’s second episode of The Crossing ran last in total viewers from 9 to 10 p.m among the Big Four broadcast networks, but improved to second place among 18-to-49-year-olds, beating both Fox4’s news and CBS’ last place Scorpion.
Here are Monday’s local news derby results.
TEGNA8 swept the 10 p.m. competitions in both total viewers and with 25-to-54-year-olds (main advertiser target audience for news programming).
Fox4 notched twin wins at 6 a.m. and also ran the table at 5 p.m. The 6 p.m. golds went to TEGNA8 in total viewers and Fox4 in the 25-to-54 realm.
