Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Fri.-Sun., July 24-26) -- NBC's Storm blows hot and cold

By ED BARK
Part 1 of NBC's latest disaster-prone miniseries, The Storm, gave the Peacock a bit of a bump Sunday night.

The two-hour launch averaged 132,860 D-FW viewers to run second overall from 8 to 10 p.m. The second hour of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition won the first hour before Fox4's 9 p.m. local newscast topped that hour's Nielsens.

Storm, starring former Dawson's Creek hottie James Van Der Beek, also took the silver with advertiser-coveted 18-to-49-year-olds.

Saturday's prime-time ratings again were drowsy, with NBC's 9 p.m. rerun of Law & Order: SVU and Fox4's competing local newscast tying as top draws with 126,217 total viewers each.

In Friday's local news derby results, WFAA8 had the 10 p.m. golds in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.

NBC5 and Fox4 split the booty at 6 a.m., with the Peacock winning in total viewers and Fox4 on top with 25-to-54-year-olds.

NBC5 swept the 6 p.m. news competitions and also had the most total viewers at 5 p.m. Fox4 and the Peacock tied in the earlier hour among 25-to-54-year-olds.
