Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Thurs., June 24) -- two big scores for ABC

ABC roared through prime-time Thursday with the returning Wipeout and the new Rookie Blue before its debut of Boston Med arrived in somewhat critical ratings condition.

Wipeout easily had the night's biggest D-FW audience, amassing 251,093 viewers in dominating the 7 p.m. hour. Rookie Blue fell to 162,871 viewers at 8 p.m., but still comfortably won its time period against reruns on CBS/NBC and another new hour of Fox's So You Think You Can Dance.

Boston Med then fell to a scant 81,436 viewers to finish third behind CBS' front-running repeat of The Mentalist (128,940 viewers) and Fox4's 9 p.m. local newscast (101,795 viewers).

Wipeout and Rookie Blue also ran first with advertiser-craved 18-to-49-year-olds before Boston Med drooped to third. Mentalist went from the penthouse to the outhouse, running fourth in this key demographic after its first-place finish in total viewers. Fox4 had the 9 p.m. gold among 18-to-49-year-olds, snaring 45,662 viewers in this age range to crush CW33's competing local newscast (9,785).

In Thursday's four-way local news derby competitions, WFAA8 won at 10 p.m. in total viewers while NBC5 took the top prize among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for newscasts on most stations.

The Peacock also crowed with a pair of 6 a.m. wins while Fox4 likewise ran the table at 5 p.m.

The 6 p.m. golds went to WFAA8 in total viewers and NBC5 in the 25-to-54 demographic.
