Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Thurs., Feb. 7)

By ED BARK
ABC's Lost and its new hit followup act, Eli Stone, held strong in D-FW Thursday while the premiere of the Peacock's Lipstick Jungle got smeared.

Lost led the 8 p.m. hour (216,768 total homes), with a rerun of CBS' CSI: Crime Scene Investigation placing a close second (197,284 homes). But the castaways pounded all comers among advertiser-craved 18-to-49-year-olds, nearly doubling the crowd for Fox's runnerup Don't Forget the Lyrics!

At 9 p.m., Stone had a comfortable edge in the 18-to-49 demo, and tied a rerun of CBS' Without A Trace for the top spot in total homes.

NBC's Lipstick Jungle, also at 9 p.m., ran a distant fourth with 109,602 homes. It landed in the same spot with 18-to-49-year-olds, a bit behind the Trace repeat.

CBS opened Thursday night with the premiere of Survivor: Micronesia, which landed a close second in total homes behind Fox's resilient Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? The two shows tied for first with 18-to-49-year-olds.

In the local news derby, WFAA8 re-took control of the 10 p.m. wars with easy wins in both total homes and among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming. CBS11 ran second in homes but fell to fourth place in the 25-to-54 demo, where NBC5 was the runnerup.

WFAA8 continued its resurgence at 6 a.m., nipping former frontrunner Fox4 in total homes. The ABC station won more comfortably with 25-to-54-year-olds, where NBC5 tied Fox4 for second. WFAA8 has the lead in both measurements after six days of the 20-day February sweeps.

WFAA8 also notched twin wins at 6 p.m. and won at 5 p.m. in the 25-to-54 competition. NBC5 perked up at 5 p.m. to tie WFAA8 in total homes.
