Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Mon., Jan. 30) -- jailhouse rocks for Fox, but mostly against repeats

By ED BARK
Fox had Monday's most-wanted program, in day or night, with its new Alcatraz topping the Nielsen charts with 270,964 D-FW viewers.

That was an improvement on the preceding new hour of Fox's House, which had 237,094 viewers to also win its time slot. Fox4's 9 p.m. local newscast (196,449 viewers) then cleaned up with a win at that hour.

CBS had wall-to-wall repeats of its regular Monday lineup, though, while NBC had a Fear Factor rerun at 8 p.m. and ABC offered a Castle reprise to close out its night.

ABC's new two-hour dollop of The Bachelor fared better with advertiser-favored 18-to-49-year-olds, beating both House and Alcatraz from 7 to 9 p.m. CBS' Two and a Half Men rerun in turn nipped the 8 to 8:30 p.m. portion of The Bachelor in this key demographic.

NBC again languished, running fourth across the board in total viewers with Fear Factor and new hours of Who's Still Standing? and Rock Center with Brian Williams. The NBC news mag managed a third place finish at 9 p.m. with 18-to-49-year-olds, beating Castle while Fox4's local news topped this time period.

Fox4 also had a nice time In Monday's four-way local news derby competitions. The station ran the table at 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. in total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming. And it added a 10 p.m. win with 25-to-54-year-olds.

WFAA8 took the gold at 10 p.m. in total viewers. At 6 p.m., CBS11 won in total viewers and tied NBC5 for first place in the 25-to-54 demographic.
