Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Tues., Sept. 14) -- Talent tunes up NBC before Parenthood falters

By ED BARK
Summertime's penultimate episode of NBC's America's Got Talent drove the ratings chariot Tuesday night, amassing 359,674 D-FW viewers in the 8 p.m. hour.

The Peacock's Season 2 debut of Parenthood then slipped to 169,658 viewers at 9 p.m., losing the hour to Fox4's local newscast (196,803 viewers). Parenthood also ran second to Fox4 among advertiser-favored 18-to-49-year-olds. Talent also had the night's biggest haul in that demographic.

Over on Fox Sports Southwest, the first-place Texas Rangers' sixth consecutive win -- against Detroit -- roped in 149,299 total viewers.

In Tuesday's local news derby results, WFAA8 ran first at 10 p.m. in total viewers while NBC5 was tops with 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming on most stations.

NBC5 added a 6 a.m. win in total viewers, but Fox4 again ruled with 25-to-54-year-olds.

Fox4 also swept the 6 p.m. competitions, tied WFAA8 for first in total viewers at 5 p.m. and won at the earlier hour in the 25-to-54 demographic.
