Duncanville's Tim Urban looked stunned. Alex Lambert of North Richland Hills seemed ready to faint.

But both received last-ditch reprieves Thursday night on American Idol after being shredded the night before by judge Simon Cowell in particular.

Urban, 20, and Lambert, 19, join fellow North Texans Todrick Hall, 24, of Arlington, and Casey James, 27, of Fort Worth, among the ratings smasheroo's final 20 contestants. They'll next sing live on Wednesday after the remaining 10 women perform the previous night.

Evicted Thursday in Idol's first viewer vote-off were Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady.
