Not a magical mystery tour: J.K. Rowling's The Casual Vacancy

HBO has turned J.K. Rowling’s “first novel for adults” into a two-night, three-hour miniseries produced in partnership with the BBC. The magic here is in the slow-cooked depiction of the goings-on in a small, outwardly picturesque English village. No murders, but a lot of damaged lives. Our review is here.

Gannett8 weathercaster Pete Delkus -- but seriously, folks

Gannett8 is recalibrating chief meteorologist Pete Delkus’ image in a new series of promos that accentuate his serious approach to the weather at hand.

Plus, Thursday, April 23rd marked an early start to the annual May “sweeps” ratings period. How did D-FW’s four major TV newscast providers look coming out of the starting gate? All of the numbers are here.

The network would have been better off burying it judging from the first three episodes of this re-cast version, which premieres on Sunday, April 26th. Our review is here.

Also, Tuesday’s D-FW Nielsen ratings “snapshot” includes the ratings for the Dallas Mavericks’ Game 2 post-season matchup at Houston.
