It’s all about getting ‘em in the tent. So here comes CBS11 with a one-two punch of weathercasting legend Troy Dungan and “Exploding Toilets” on opening night (Thursday, April 28) of the May “sweeps” ratings period. Subtracting (and adding) the on-camera newsroom personnel at D-FW's four major providers

Since the start of 2014, Fox4, NBC5, TEGNA8 and CBS11 to date have lost 51 on-camera news personalities for various reasons. But three of the four stations have pretty much replenished the stock while the other lags far behind them. We break it all down on the Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.

A buyout day goodbye for 12 off-camera staffers at TEGNA-owned WFAA8

No on-camera staffers were given the option. But 12 off-camera newsroom personnel at Dallas-based WFAA8 were allowed to take the TEGNA corporate buyout. Their last days were on Friday, April 22nd.

This contrasts with the numerous on-camera anchors, reporters and meteorologists who were offered and took retirement packages at other TEGNA-owned stations across the country. We break it all down for you on our Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.

Ratings droop for RHOD's "Poop Hat" episode

Monday’s second episode of Real Housewives of Dallas, featuring cast member Brandi Redmond’s “Poop Hat,” took a dump in the national Nielsen ratings for cable programming. It lost more than 150,000 viewers from the weak April 11th premiere while again trailing new episodes of three other Housewives editions that aired in the past week. Masterpiece theater on AMC via imported British miniseries The Night Manager

HBO's Confirmation revisits the Thomas-Hill Supreme Court confirmation hearings

Before the O.J. Simpson trial came the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings, which also received heavy live TV coverage and were notable for the “race card” being very effectively played. HBO’s Confirmation, which premieres on Saturday, April 16th, re-dramatizes those times while also depicting Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Joe Biden as a weak-kneed ringmaster. It’s almost here. After a decade of screwing around with other venues, Bravo’s Real Housewives finally takes a shine on Dallas with the Monday, April 11th premiere. Five principals are spotlighted, with a side order of “friend of the Dallas ladies.” Your friendly content provider has survived the first two episodes, and our review is here.
