Heading on a road trip, leaving lots behind
03/28/17 11:10 AM
A road trip to the Midwest beckons, so we’re answering the call. I’ll be off for a while, but have left four new series reviews and a think piece behind. And of course, there’ll be some tweets and pics from the road via @unclebarkycom.
Here’s the menu:
Hulu’s Harlots, TV Land’s Nobodies and ABC’s Imaginary Mary all fire up on Wednesday, March 29th.
The review of Harlots is here.
The review of Nobodies is here.
And the review of Imaginary Mary is here.
Plus, Fox is re-booting Prison Break and resurrecting tattooed Michael Scofield from the dead. It premieres on Tuesday, April 4th, and our review is here.
Also, I’ve been talking about the perils of a sharply divided media landscape for years. Here’s a new take on our Network News & Reviews page.

A look at how D-FW's Monday late night newscasts covered (or didn't cover) Ezekiel Elliott's uncoverings at St. Patrick's Day parade
03/14/17 04:48 PM
Ezekiel Elliott’s uncovering of a celebrating woman’s breast, which surfaced in a video posted Monday on TMZ.com, could have repercussions for the star Dallas Cowboys running back. He made the move while drinking a beer on a rooftop bar at Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dallas.
How did D-FW’s Fox4, NBC5, TEGNA8 and CBS11 approach the story? We break it all down on the Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.
Plus, Fort Worth-based NBC5 is saying goodbye to one reporter and welcoming two others. All the details are here.
Also, check out our review of NBC’s Trial & Error “true-crime” spoof, which stars John Lithgow and premieres on Tuesday, March 14th following the season finale of This Is Us.

NBC5 shines brightest in Feb. local news "sweeps," but there's still a power outage in the year-to-year ratings
03/02/17 01:08 PM
NBC5 had more local news wins than any of its three rivals in the just-completed February ratings “sweeps.” But all’s not well for any of them, based on the year-to-year numbers. The in-depth ratings breakdowns you won’t find anywhere else (because I’m a masochist?) are on our Dallas-Fort Worth TV page.
